I always thought Goofy was a dog and accepted that. But then there is the argument (as seen in the movie ‘Stand by Me’) that says: if Pluto is Mickeys dog and he is a typical dog, then what the hell is Goofy? Goofy walks and talks and Pluto does not.
I’m thinking Disney employed many different animators who all had different ideas and concepts. One made Goofy for a cartoon, another made Pluto for Mickey. And because all ‘Mickey Mouse’ cartoons exist in a shared universe thus Goofy and Pluto exists together. It’s kind of like how ‘Howard the Duck’ and Captain America exist in the same shared universe (Marvel).

And finally congrats to Rami Malek for winning an Oscar for his portrayal of ‘Freddie Mercury’ ! It was well deserved. And congrats to everyone involved in the making of the film for the multiple awards that were won during awards season.
