Did you have the power? Remembering The Power Tour from 1987
Did you have the power? Remembering The Power Tour from 1987
News reached us in the rural community of Fort Assiniboine that He-Man and She-Ra were coming to Edmonton’s Northlands Coliseum. It must have been advertised on tv and in the newspapers; irregardless I knew we had to be there. I begged and pleaded with my Mom and with the help of Grandma and Grandpa LaBerge we had enough money for myself, my sister and our cousin Lenny to attend.
I was only 7 at the time so my memory is a little muddy but what I remember is this:
- back then a trip to the big city of Edmonton was a big trip. Growing up in the country and going to school in a village with a population under 200 people, to see skyscrapers and four lanes of traffic is an eye opening experience.
- I remember my Mom and Dad driving myself, my sister and cousin Lenny to the event.
- I remember Northlands Coliseum being this huge magical building. This was the home of the Edmonton Oilers on TV! This was like (for 7 year old Chris) seeing the Eiffel Tower.
- I remember my cousin Lenny and I each getting white plastic ‘He-Man like’ swords which glowed green in the dark. Which we held high and proudly in He-Mans honour when called upon.
- I remember She-Ra being absolutely beautiful
- I remember being excited seeing all the familiar characters from my beloved ‘Masters of the Universe’.
- I remember after the show going through a McDonalds drive thru. McDonalds was a major treat for any kid from the country. Anyway I remember this one because my Mom ordered a ‘Filet O’ Fish’ for me. I HATE ‘Filet O’ Fish’ then and for the rest of my life.
- A few weeks after the show my plastic He-Man sword broke, ironically while role playing as He-Man.
Anyway I want to thank my Mom, Dad and Grandma & Grandpa LaBerge for making it possible to see He-Man.

Breakfast Cereal sampling, Part II:
Trix:
Trix is not just for kids folks. I haven’t had Trix in years so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I do eat Fruit Loops from time to time so I was thinking Trix would be a kin to them. The fruit flavour is actually better in Trix than Fruit Loops. Also, now that I’m in my 40’s and have had numerous dental procedures I do not like purchasing crunchy cereals. I find Fruit Loops very crunchy and hard on my teeth and gums. Trix however is much softer when compared to Fruit Loops which my mouth really appreciated.
Trix was surprisingly fun to rediscover and far superior to Fruit Loops.
Trix is for adults!
Apple Jacks:
Light yet crunchy and it’s tasty. Apparently it’s only available for a “limited time”, as advertised on the box. Not sure why this isn’t a regular cereal available as it is much better than other Kellog cereals like ‘Fruit Loops’.
Apple Cinnamon Cheerios:
The ‘O’s’ are smaller and harder than Apple Jacks. They taste good but Apple Jacks are far superior in my opinion.
Be sure to listen to our upcoming episode of The Pop Culture Pub Podcast as we will be talking breakfast cereals!

Breakfast Cereal sampling:
For an upcoming episode of ‘The Pop Culture Pub Podcast’ we are discussing breakfast cereals. I’m sampling newer ones or ones I’ve not eaten before or ones I haven’t eaten it in a while. So I’m documenting my experience with cereals:
Fruity Lucky Charms:
Kinda tastes like Fruit Loops with Lucky Charms marshmallows. Not bad but I think I prefer the original version to this one.
Chocolate Lucky Charms:
I didn’t think I’d like this as I am not typically a chocolate cereal fan but this is delicious! Definitely better than the fruity kind but I still prefer the original version.
Cinnamon Toast Crunch Churros:
Cinnamon Toast Crunch is my favourite cereal, so this one seems like a no brainer. I originally tried these at the 2019 Calgary Expo; ah remember when we were able to gather in crowds...I miss those days. Anyway I enjoy the taste of the CT Churros however the bulkiness of the individual churros reminds me of eating ‘Corn Pops’, a cereal I am not a fan of. Overall I didn’t mind it, but I’ll stick with the original. I think these could be best utilized in a party mix, with some Doritos and Cheetos. But that’ll have to wait till this Covid19 shit is over with.
Part 2 of this blogpost will be up tomorrow February 11th! See you tomorrow!

WandaVision: My fan theory
***SPOILERS***
So I’m getting straight to the point on what is “really” going on with WandaVision. Wanda received her powers from Hydra, as they exposed her and her twin brother to the ‘mind stone’. Hydra as we know use mind control on some of their agents, such as the Winter Soldier. So that being established who is to say they didn’t do the same to Wanda. They gave her powers not just to make her a weapon for Hydra, but also to use her to breed more super-powered beings loyal to Hydra.
Given the trauma she experienced during Infinity War and Endgame it’s likely she’s suffered a psychotic break and her former Hydra brain conditioning has taken over. She’s sought out Visions body, taken over a town and created a “perfect” world to bring children into.
So she’s acting out as a result of her conditioning at the hands of Hydra.
Also I really think “Agness” is actually Agatha Harkness, a power witch from the Marvel Universe. She may be being controlled by Wanda or she may be actually controlling Wanda, perhaps in the hopes of taking her children from her.
Maybe Mephisto is behind things too...
