Well that’s disappointing…

My Weekly Comic Book Pickups

Another light week for me in comic books. Technically it’s a 5th week so traditionally they are lighter.

I’m loving these Saturday Morning comics. Just wish they would do another GI:Joe already!

Have a great week!

End of an Incredible Season for the Oil

Good job this season Edmonton. Well that was a disappointing end to a great season for the Edmonton Oilers. Not to sound like a Leafs fan but I really thought this was our year. There’s no doubt some of the ref calls (or non-calls) were costly. Waving off icing, not calling high sticks when blood is drawn…but the bad calls have not been limited to the Oilers. A YouTuber I follow stated that Refs tend to make worse calls overall in the play-offs all over the play-offs, not just in the Oiler games. The Oilers did lose to the best team in the Western Division…again not to sound too much like a Leafs fan “but maybe next year…”

My Weekly Comic Book Pick-up’s

The last couple weeks have been light on picking up comics, but this upcoming Wednesday looks like it’ll cost me more than usual.

What I’ll be picking up on Wednesday:

Two Hulk titles this week!

I like Jed MacKay as a writer so I’ll be checking out his Avengers & Doctor Strange #1’s

I’m totally judging a book by its cover: a Motion Picture era Star Trek comic is interesting to me

See you next week!

More Alberta Election Thoughts

I had voted for Wildrose before because I liked Brian Jean. But unfortunately in my personal experience with our former Wildrose MLA and current UCP MLA that he is not working for the best interests of his constituents and towing the UCP party line. During the UCP’s current tenure we have seen many job losses in his constituency at (among other places) ADLC in Barrhead and layoffs at SHTC in Swan Hills. He did NOTHING to save those jobs for HIS constituents. The UCP needs to go. The UCP will spend $330 million towards an arena for the Calgary Flames but not spend money to keep jobs in Barrhead & Swan Hills? Seems wrong to me…

More Election Thoughts

Alberta Provincial Election:
I think people who are not directly affected by the UCP cuts have a hard time seeing how bad they are. Also another issue I have with them are the changes they implemented in employment legislation. I’ve literally lost money due to changes they have made that benefit employers at the expense of their employees. Employers are allowed to average a shift workers hours which allows them to pay more regular pay and less overtime pay. Also changes in stat pay have resulted in employers not having to pay out stat holiday money to shift workers like they had to before.
Put simply I work the same hours (sometimes more) I worked in 2018 but get paid less. And these cuts were first rolled out in 2019 by the then newly elected UCP.

If you are reading this and are an Alberta resident & voter PLEASE look into the UCP and the cuts they’ve made since 2019.

Be an informed voter.

More Alberta Politics

informed voting: I think a lot of people are confusing Provincial politics with Federal. Ask any healthcare worker what they think of the UCP. I’m sure healthcare workers would love to see that $330 million dollars they are spending on the Calgary Flames new arena to be used on health care. Funny how they (PC’s) wouldn’t give Edmonton money for their new arena but years later as the UCP they need Calgary votes so the conveniently announce $330 million just before the election call…hmm. Buying votes?

Why I’m voting for the Provincial NDP

Why I’m not voting UCP: the state of the health care system, what happened at SHTC, 1.5 billion dollars gambled on a pipeline to nowhere, sending waste to the states for treatment when that money could be used to pay Albertans… it’s time for the corporate ass kissing UCP to go.

The NDP are about the people, not corporations. The NDP under Rachel Notley are what is needed to get Alberta’s health care system back on track. They are willing to listen to you and me. In my opinion they deserve a second chance.

Election Thought

Just a thought…

With the Alberta provincial election announced it has me thinking of an idea from my high school days. I remember my buddy Clayton and I discussing that it should be policy in Canadian politics that the incumbent government (UCP in Alberta, Liberals on the Federal level) NOT be allowed to make any election promises. They should be voted on their past 4 years in office. After all if they wait till election time to make promises why did they wait in the first place? If you have the power to make changes while in office why wait until a next term? Only the non-governing party(s) should be allowed to make promises, since they currently do not have the power to deliver them. The incumbent should be running their election on their record, not what they would do but are currently not doing.
